Press secretary says the president was unaware they were at his house and at a think tank.
The White House has responded that President Biden did not know that there were classified documents from President Obama’s administration in his house before they were discovered by his team on December 20, 2022.
“He was surprised that these records were found, he does not know what is in them, and his team, once they identified that these documents were there, they immediately reached out to the [National] Archives, to the Department of Justice, and did the — rightfully so — did the right thing by turning them over,” White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre said during a briefing.
Attorney General Merrick Garland announced that he appointed Robert Hur as the prosecutor in charge of reviewing the recovered documents and finding out “whether any person or entity violated the law.” The White House has pledged full cooperation with these efforts.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the president and his administration to improve the safeguarding of classified documents.
- For wisdom for Attorney General Merrick Garland as he heads the Justice Department.
- For Special Counsel Robert Hur as he investigates the lapse in secure storage of classified documents.
